The Gladstone Clinic offers blepharoplasty, or more commonly referred to as eyelid surgery or an eyelid lift.
It is more than a truism that your eyes are the windows to your soul. Studies have also shown that a person will focus on your eyes first before looking at the rest of your face. Blepharoplasty also known as an eyelid tuck is for tightening the upper eyelids and treating bags and tightening the lower eyelids.
What is an Upper Blepharoplasty?
Dr. Gladstone performs the upper blepharoplasty using local anesthesia with oral sedation. The purpose is to reduce the excess skin from your eyelid, so they don’t feel so heavy as well as to give more eyelid show which appears more youthful. For women, an upper blepharoplasty decrease smearing of makeup from redundant skin. Most of the stitches that Dr. Gladstone places are dissolvable, though a few are taken care of at one week. Generally, there may be one week of downtime. Scars on the eyelid can possibly heal very well.
What is a Lower Blepharoplasty?
Dr. Gladstone performs a transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty. It is performed using local anesthesia with oral sedation. There are no stitches or external scars since the incision is made on the inside of your eyelid. Fat that is creating the bags is gently reduced. Dr. Gladstone will then laser the skin around the lower eyelid in order to tighten it. Generally, there may be one week of downtime.
Dr. Gladstone also performs canthopexies which tighten and raises the outside of the eyelid, and can add to the effect of blepharoplasties.
