Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatment
What: Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is actually not a laser, but it has a long and successful history of treating facial redness from rosacea, spider veins and sun damage in addition to sun spots and blotchiness. It creates a more uniform skin in terms of color and tone. The Gladstone Clinic uses the Lumenis M22 which uses Advanced Optimum Pulse Technology that maximizes treatment effectiveness.
For Whom: IPL is generally for fairer skin individuals, because here needs to be a contrast between the spot and the skin color. In some instances can be successfully performed in olive complected individuals. IPL is used mostly on the face, but the neck, upper chest, arms and hands can also be treated.
Recovery: Mild redness and mild swelling for 24-48 hours. For sun spots (dark) that are treated there can be a “coffee” ground” effect that may take 3-4 days to resolve. This can be covered with make up.
How many Treatments: Five treatment packages. One treatment every three weeks.
